The Private Industry Council of Westmoreland/Fayette, Inc.’s DADS MATTER program has developed a partnership with the Douglas Education Center to deliver a Commercial Driver’s License customized program for our DADS MATTER program participants. Each interested Dad in our program will be afforded the opportunity to gain this valuable credential as well as a HAZMAT endorsement. This seven week training will be available in both day and evening options to fit the individual schedule of our enrolled Dads.
Eligible DADS MATTER participants can be in pursuit of employment or already working and want this certification to advance in the company they are with or give them additional opportunity for higher family sustaining income. The enormous demand for truck drivers in the three county service area of Fayette, Washington and Westmoreland provides historic opportunity for each graduate to achieve annual salary averages of over $65,000 for first time drivers. The salary as well as flexible schedules will allow our DADS MATTER enrollees to earn a great income while spending quality time with their children.
Our core program model builds on a practice of educating father’s to play a pivotal role in their child’s lives through direct behavioral demonstration and also understanding the sense of pride and understanding that both the Dad and child receive when the father can provide a stable economic certainty to the child. The program helps to instill an ability to overcome barriers and seek out resources to create a relationship with their child that is stable and long lasting.
The CDL training opportunity is combined with a larger workforce development program that also provides short term certifications in OSHA, Forklift, Behavioral Skills, ServSafe and Gas and Oil programs such as Safeland/Safegulf. Our staff works diligently to leverage many resources from the Private Industry Council organization and many other community groups to create the pathway for our Dads to succeed in regards to their family and with their own personal goals that lead to long term success.
