Uniontown, PA – Mike Kelly Toyota, located at 1 Mary Jane Wood Drive in Uniontown, Pa wrote a $2,000 check to the newly created Education and Technology Institute (ETI) Driving School, a division of Private Industry Council Westmoreland / Fayette Inc. (PIC).
“We are elated to receive this donation from Mike Kelly Toyota,” said Sean Sypolt, Director of ETI. “This is a huge benefit to the Fayette County community as transportation is one of the biggest barriers we see for those seeking employment. This money will go a long way in helping those in need.” Shujuane Martin, CEO/President of PIC adds “We are always excited when local Businesses buy into our mission to build tomorrow’s workforce through employment and training.”
The ETI Driving School was formed in 2020 to help assist those seeking employment to overcome transportation as a barrier. Many schools in the area have stopped offering driving school as part of their curriculum, and the ETI Driving School was formed to help fill that gap in service.
“Mike Kelly is excited to partner with ETI and PIC to offer these scholarships to Fayette County residents in need of their driver’s license,” said Luke Kim, General Manager of Mike Kelly Toyota of Uniontown. “This is really a good initiative for the entire community.”
For those seeking their permit and driver’s license, the fee is $350, which includes up to 12 hours of permit prep instruction and practice tests – being done virtually at the moment – and six hours of behind the wheel instruction with one of our licensed driving instructors. For those who already have their permit and just need the behind the wheel portion, the fee is $300. The instructor will work with the student on best times to schedule appointments, either in one or two hour increments, and will pick up and drop off the student at their place of residence.
“The nice thing about participating in a driving school program is it pays for itself. Most insurance companies offer a discount to those who go through a driving school,” Sypolt said. “And with Mike Kelly Toyota also offering these scholarships, it’s a win-win.”
