Attention all SUPERHEROS!
Head Start/Early Head Start of Fayette County, a program of the Private Industry Council of Westmoreland/Fayette, Inc., organizes end of the year events for each classroom. The Mill Run Parent group held its end of year event on June 5, 2019. Our little superheroes convened at their headquarters which is located across from the Mill Run Center at the Mill Run Pavilion of Justice. The super villain “light rain” and his henchmen clouds could not deter our 97 heroes from assembling. There were many activities to keep our heroes occupied. They learned how real heroes respect nature by building bird houses and showing compassion for even the littlest creatures. They also worked on a butterfly craft showing the true beauty of nature. Our heroes used their time to fine tune their super abilities through physical activities. They had a mighty jump rope activity and parachutes were available to utilize.
To show super heroes know no age, we had 5 mighty Early Head Start children and 12 super Head Start children. There were 16 families to help mold our heroes. One of the heroes’ favorite trainings was the bubbles. They fine-tuned their skills by creating and chasing bubbles through the grass. They enjoyed songs about fellow superheroes and also sported their superhero capes which they hand crafted. They replenished their super powers with pizza and water. All and all the event was well enjoyed by our heroes and the super heroes we call “OUR PARENTS!” In closing of our event, our heroes were bestowed with the highest honor: “Their certificate of the years in the program!” Our heroes were true to our theme of “Let’s Move!” We want to thank all of the heroes that are involved in our children’s everyday life; the parents, other adults, and Head Start staff that do all they can do to mold the heroes of tomorrow!
